From Teacher to Advocate: Why I Started Whole Child Advocacy

If you’re the parent of a child with special needs, you’ve likely experienced the overwhelming maze of evaluations, IEP meetings, and confusing jargon. As a former special education teacher in Conroe ISD, I’ve seen firsthand how the system often leaves parents feeling frustrated, unheard, and unsure of their rights.

That’s why I started Whole Child Advocacy.

A Teacher’s Perspective

After spending years in the classroom, I saw how hard teachers work—but also how stretched they are. Even with the best intentions, school teams don’t always have the time, training, or resources to create truly individualized plans. And parents? They’re expected to understand complex laws and advocate for their children without a guide.

It was clear: the system needed a bridge. Someone who could translate the school’s language into parent-friendly terms. Someone who could review evaluations, analyze IEPs, and help families understand what those plans actually mean. So, I became a special education advocate.

What Does an Advocate Do?

At Whole Child Advocacy, I help families not only in my local area of The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Magnolia, Tomball, and surrounding Texas communities, but also across the Nation, by:

  • Reviewing educational evaluations for accuracy and clarity

  • Analyzing IEPs and 504 Plans for legal compliance and effectiveness

  • Helping parents understand their child’s goals, accommodations, and services

  • Preparing families for ARD/IEP meetings so they can speak with confidence

  • Attending ARD/IEP meetings when requested by the parent

  • Providing tutoring and behavioral support by special education-trained teachers

This isn’t just paperwork—it’s about making sure your child’s education actually works for them.

My Mission: Empowering Parents, Supporting Kids

You are your child’s best advocate. But even the most loving parent can feel powerless without support. My mission is to change that—to walk with you, step by step, as you navigate your child’s educational journey.

Because when families are empowered, students thrive.

Serving Families Across Greater Houston

Whole Child Advocacy is proud to serve families locally throughout:

  • The Woodlands

  • Spring

  • Conroe

  • Magnolia

  • Klein ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD

Regardless of your location across our great Nation, if you need help with your child’s IEP or 504 Plan, you don’t have to go it alone.
